How to read Piano Music
Learn & Master Piano is the only instructional tool you’ll need as you strive to finally learn this wonderful
instrument
The most intimidating aspect for most students with a
desire to learning music is the music sheet itself.
It can appear
complicated and even frightening to young students but
when the sheet is broken down, much like an alphabet it becomes then a simple matter of learning how to read
the page without the fear of its appearance.
As in an alphabet the notes are named after letters
and thankfully is much shorter than the actual alphabet
that you have already mastered.
It is only seven letters long and consists of the first seven
in the alphabet..ABCDEFG !
Who could have
guessed that some of the worlds most celebrated music
could be communicated and played around the world by seven letters!
These seven are called the natural notes and all of the white keys on a
keyboard are natual notes . The black keys are the called the sharps and flats of each natural note and the
keyboard is arranged in octaves.
So all together (natural notes, sharps and flats) there are
only 12 notes that repeat on the piano keyboard as different octaves for a total of 88
keys.

The above is a picture of a music "STAFF" which
has five lines and four spaces.
The notation to the left are called
Clefts and the clef you
will see on your music depends on what instrument you play. The top one is called the
Treble Cleft and the
lower one the Bass Cleft.
Instruments using the bass clef usually have a lower pitch
(sound) and regulary play low notes however, if they were to use the treble clef, the notes would appear so far
below the staff it would be hard to read. Although you only really need to know 1 or the other, it is good practice
to know both.
The first line in treble clef is an E. The last (top) line is an F and using
mnemonics:
and for the lines inbetween

The Bass Clef has similiar mnemonics
and the spaces on the bass clef are A C E
G;

The lines on the bass cleft are G B D F A

From here you will go on to learn other symbols for timing
pitch and volume to learn the empahsis, duration and tone of a note ...
