Yes, martha ,I was a Mr. Magoo ... page rank on google matters... but what is more important for the aspiring new marketer is having the right expectations of sucess. Its easy to imagine that with the world literally at your fingertips that success in any venture would be assured but in fact the opposite it true.   In the early days of marketing all one had to do was ceate massive amounts of websites packed with Adsense to bring in cash.

Now those days are gone forever... and if you analyise your own surfing habits you will notice how seldom you actually click on an ad. Throw in the fact that there over a billion sites and you get an idea of how seldom an adsense ad on your site will be clicked on.

Having said that however, is not to say that adding Amazon and Adsense to your site is pointless ... quite the opposite! Confused??

Well the topic at hand is traffic and if you have sufficient traffic to any site .. even a blog, you can generate a nice secondary income. Every once in a while something will catch the eye.

For those aspiring new marketers, the number one reason for failure is not realizing that list building and traffic are as important as the product itself. There is a herd mentality in affiliate marketing and if you visit such forums like the Warrior Forum you will get an idea of what I mean. Products aimed at new marketers grasping for straws number in the tens of thousands .

Auto traffic this... and auto blogging software ....that with instant sucess promises and pages of clickbank proofs showing thousands of dollars abound and many fall prey.

Here is my confession... I too bought many autotraffic products and spent quite a tidy sum until I ran across one little $17.00 product that pointed out the basics of targeted traffic.

Take those already free tools and generate targeted traffic. There are many copies out there selling for three times the amount (check out ClickBank) but I found one of the first by Mark Sandquist and snapped it up. Here is a link to my video on it :

My best advice is to follow this simple rule of thumb... never buy anything that promises overnight success. Most often you will end up discouraged and out of money.
